Flapless imlantology Limitations of flapless implant surgery and solutions – Assessment of bone volume

The primary disadvantage of flapless implant surgery is the inability to assess the bone volume during an implant osteotomy or insertion. Therefore, flapless implant surgery requires preoperative images of the shape of the jaw bone to evaluate the available bone height and width. The images consist mainly of panoramic and cross-sectional views of the jaw bone.

In complex cases, computerized tomography or computer imaging software may help to assess the bone volume before flapless implant surgery.
