Flapless implantology Treatment planning for ridges with insufficient bone

Implant placement using flapless implant surgery in ridges with insufficient bone width requires greater experience, caution, and training, but excellent results may be achieved. To develop a treatment plan for the ridges, evaluation of the existing bone volume is the primary factor. To assesss the amount of labiolingual bone, a CT study is integrated into the pretreatment imaging process. Augmentation procedures also can be planned with 3D assistance. If available bone width or height is inadequate for implants of the proper size, bone graft with immediate or delayed flapless implant placement are possible.

Bone grafting is performed using a subperiosteal tunneling procedure. The subperiosteal tunnel ensure favorable conditions for flapless implant surgery and increased healing of soft tissue adjacent to the flaplessimplant. The procedure also promotes bone generation and reduces the incidence of membrane exposure.
