There is some concern that implants cannot be placed precisely by the flapless approach. Because both the drilling and implant placement procedures are controlled above the mucosa without looking at the alveolar bone. In the author’s experience, provided the mucosal thickness is measured precisely and the shape of the alveolar bone is properly evaluated, implant placement can be performed precisely even without exposing the bone surface.

When implants are placed using the flapless procedure, there is little scar formation in the soft tissue adjacent to the implants, an increase in the blood vessels of the peri-implant mucosa, and a decrease in peri-implant bone loss.

This procedure also boosts the osseointegration of the implants. Enhances the use of an effective method of early plaque control.

If these advantages of flapless implants accumulate over time after surgery, this procedure can produce a subsequent large-scale effect, akin to the butterfly effect.
