Flapless implantology Effect on bone density adjacent to the implant

The effect of flap and flapless surgery on bone density in the region adjacent to the implant was compared using a canine mandible model.

The bone density was approximately 10% higher around the implants placed using the flapless procedure than those placed using the flap procedure.

In particular, the largest difference in bone density between the two procedures occurred in the area where the buccal periosteum was elevated.

This suggests that flapless implant surgery plays a key role in enhancing bone density adjacent to the implant.
