Flapless implantology Comparison of peri-implant soft tissue

Experiments were carried out to compare the morphogenesis of the peri-implant mucosa between the soft tissue punch and mini-incision implant surgery using a canine mandible model. A one-stage surgical approach was used for soft tissue punch implant surgery, whereas a two-stage surgical approach was used for mini-incision implant surgery.

The results suggest that there were no differences in the morphogenesis of the peri-implant mucosa.

In addition, these results corroborate the previously reported data generated using the flap procedure in a canine model. In particular, the authors of the aforementioned study reported that there were no differences in histological behavior between the submerged and nonsubmerged implants.
