Fapless implantology Effect on inflammation resistance of peri-implant mucosa

An animal experiment was carried out to determine the effect of flapless implant surgery on the inflammation resistance of the peri-implant mucosa using a canine mandible model. The gingival index, probing pocket depth, and bleeding on probing were evaluated 3 months after the flap and flapless implant procedures.

The flapless implant placement had lower values of all of these measurements compared with the flap implant placement.

This suggests that the flapless implant method is more effective in developing inflammation resistance in the soft tissue surrounding the implants.

The soft tissue adjacent to the implant contained more blood vessels after flapless surgery, which might have strengthened its resistance to in flammation.

Flapless implant placement has lower gingival indices and less bleeding on probing compared with flap implant placement.
