Flapless implantology Correction of peri-implant defects

Because flapless implant surgery does not provide direct visualization of the bone, there is some concern that no bone defects can be corrected during implant insertion. However, the bone defects can be covered at the time of implant placement with a graft material using a subperiosteal tunneling procedure.

Alveolar ridge where the mucosa is likely to become a problematic area for wound healing. For making subperiosteal tunnels, a vertical incision is made approximately 8 mm away from the implant. The graft material is introduced to the peri-implant defects through the subperiosteal tunnel.

The biggest advantage is that lateral ridge augmentation can be performed simultaneously with flapless implant placement.

However, in the case of vertical bone resorption, implants are inserted using a flapless procedure after augmenting the ridge usingthe subperiosteal tunneling procedure.
